War Machines

Slightly lowered expectations
Slowly dawning realization
Gazing down on God's creation
Why do they disappoint you?
The pages from our history
Lay open wide for all to see
Still wrapped up in mystery
Will they never learn?
Ever-watchful eyes are bleary
The keepers of the peace grow weary
Civilians everywhere seem leery
When will we have peace?
War machines are quickly turning
Villages and towns are burning
Sons and daughters, mothers yearning
Must you blind your eyes?
Man has surely doomed himself
Ever-seeking greater wealth
Only to lose it all in death
Forfeit to his soul
