My Addiction

Updated: Jun 8, 2022

I was drowning in a sea of sorrow

Wallowing in self-pity

I couldn’t face one more tomorrow

In this cold and lonely city

My addiction beckoned

From around every corner

Darkened doorway

And dim-lit corridor

Do not be afraid

To come out and play

Your beds already made

And I’ll show you the way

You don’t have to be stronger

Than me any longer

You can put paid

With one foot in the grave
