Have Mercy

Well, the the Good Book says we must obey

The rules to the game we the people play

And you know that I'm doing the best that I can

To live by the laws which govern this land

So don't begrudge me a friendly toke

Don't tell me what I cannot smoke

I don't mean to make a terrible fuss

Just let me smoke my cannabis

Life can sometimes be distressing

God gave us reefer with his blessing

It doesn't mean that I'm a sinner

Because I smoke a blunt

Or a little pinner

And it don't make me a dangerous man

To reap the harvest of this land

But smoking bud has become a crime

They'll take your stash and give you time

Truth be told and truth be known

Most of them smoke the stuff at home

Why, even our former president

Has admitted to smoking a little hemp

So, what do you say we rethink this a minute

And while we're at it, I'll have another hit
