Remembering, I have to smile, although I miss you so
Looking back, I see you there, my very first hero
I cannot call you anymore just to hear you on the line
I can almost hear you now, you always had the time
I knew you didn't have the words to tell me that you loved me so
We never needed silly words to tell us what we know
I remember curling at your back on that old davenport
My special place made just for me and just for my own comfort
I think you must have felt the same, as we watched our Sunday shows
From wrestling fights and cowboy knights, to our favorite war heroes
Then we'd go off to the fishing hole to pass the afternoon
To me it always seemed as though the day passed by way too soon
My line got snagged up in a tree, it never seemed to fail
I talked too loud and scared the fish and knocked over the minnow pail
You'd raise your voice to scold me and my heart would break in two
I loved the time we shared together, no matter what we'd do
So, now you're gone and Time has moved on
I still feel you near to me, a simple, special bond
